This recipe yeilds 16 homemade corn dogs and is the standard American corn dog. If you wish to only have half the yeild just halve the ingredients.
1 cup yellow cornmeal.
1 cup all purpose flour.
1/4 cup white sugar.
4 teaspoons baking powder.
1/4 teaspoon salt.
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup milk.
1 large egg.
1 quart vegetable oil.
2 (16 ounce) packaged hotdogs or sausages of your choice.
Wooden skewers.
After you've gathered your ingredients you will move on to step one.
Step one: Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl; stir in milk and egg to make a batter.
Step two: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees fahrenheit (190 degrees celsius)
Step three: Dry your choice of hotdogs/sausages and put wooden skewers into them.
Step four: Roll your choice of hotdog/sausage in your cornmeal batter until fully coated.
Step five: Fry three of your hotdogs/sausages in the preheated oil for 3 minutes until golden brown.
Step six: Dry on paper towls and wait to cool.
Step seven: Serve and enjoy corn dogs.
