< Corn dog variations

Even though the corn dog was invented in the United States there are many variations of corn dogs around the world!.

The corn dog from the United states is usually made with hotdogs, cornmeal batter, and sticks. Corn dogs in the United states are usually sold at fairs and canivals while also being sold at store in the frozen food section. They are mostly eaten with mustard or ketchup.

In Australia corn dogs are mostly known as Dagwood Dog, Pluto Pup, or dippy dog, name depends on the region. Sometimes these corn dogs are made with wheat based batter instead of a cornmeal based flour. They are popular at agricultural shows and carnival.

In Japan a corndog is usually refered as an "American dog". It is made with wheat based batter and may sometime use fish sausage instead of hotdogs. In Eastern regions of Hokkaido there is a variant where they use sugar instead of ketchup, its known as a "French dog".

In South Africa corn dogs are popularly served in cafes/fairs. They are made with local sausages like boerewors (Afrikaans for farmer sausage) A seasoned pork and beef sausage shaped into a large coil and cheese grillers (sausages with cheese in them). They are also sold as frozen food in stores.
